We now have brand new patent images of BMW‘s upcoming iX3 electric SUV. Let’s compare them with the BMW Neue Klasse SUV concept.
BMW just redesigned the X3 SUV and what we have here is the electric version, the new iX3 EV. BMW’s upcoming EVs will be based on the new Neue Klasse EV platform, but will look a lot like the ICE models. It will be the same thing with the new BMW 3 series. The EV version will also be based on the Neue Klasse platform while trying hard to look like the new “regular” 3 series. All new BMWs, ICE or EV, will adopt the Neue Klasse design language from now on.
The 2nd image dates from last November, when patent photos first appeared. And it shows a different front and and rear bumpers than the new images from today. However, they are both the same cars. With only different bumper designs. Which could be just different trims. The one with more crappy black plastic trim is probably a BMW M Line trim.
As you can see, the production car seems very close to the concept we saw last year. Which is good news. Mirrors and windows seem to be the main differences.
It seems that finally, BMW has found a nice and modern design language. After so many years of getting uglier and more vulger with each redesign.
