2026 Toyota bZ4X.

It doesn’t look like next year’s version of the Toyota bZ4X will look much different. At all. And yet…

From this new spy shot above, the 2026 Toyota EV seems to look exactly the same as the current version. There are probably changes under that camouflage but they might be quite minor, which is fine. I personally think the bZ4X and its Subaru clone look fine. And still much better than the current RAV4.

The main issue owners and reviewers have with the Toyota EV is its battery performance. The range is pretty low and many owners claim it is actually impossible to reach the official numbers. On top of that, the 150kWh charging speed would be OK, but the charging curve is one of the worst around and it does take longer to charge than most of its competition.

Toyota has been trying to boost sales with very attractive leases. But so does everyone else. Even with a 100% increase over 2023 they only sold 18,570 of them in 2024 in the US.

Obviously, some changes are on the way. An important one will be an all-new name. A real name which will be nothing like “bZ4X”. Which was one of the worst car names in history, to begin with.

Toyota is also working on 2 all-new 3-row EV SUVs for the North American market. Both have been pushed back to 2026. However, we might see prototype versions of at least one of them before the end of the year. Both of these will also have real names. One of them could be a production version of the gorgeous Land Cruiser Se concept we saw in 2023.

As for the bZ4X, I think a better charging curve, a longer range, and a better name could actually do wonders for the Toyota SUV.
