2026 VW Atlas.
Last Updated:

Today we have a few more photos of the VW Atlas’s Chinese clone, the VW Teramont. The Teramont is probably a very accurate preview of the 2026 US Atlas.
Of course, after all these years, the new Atlas is indeed an improvement. This is not hard to do since the current design already looked old when it came out, 8 years ago. And the new generation does look a bit more modern. However, it seems the front end has been getting a healthy dose of “weird for the sake of weird”.
It looks better but still not that great. But also not much worse than other new models like the Toyota Grand Highlander. Or even the new Buick Enclave. It seems the Mazda CX-90 might be the better-looking model of a rather ugly bunch. Even with its ghastly huge grille.
The same thing inside where the new interior is a huge step forward. Even if the current model interior was redesigned a couple of years ago, It was just never really acceptable. But again, VW missed a bit of opportunity here by not integrating the center screen into the dashboard. Especially since there is plenty of room to do so, instead, they chose, again, the cheapest way possible. By using the same screen they are using on every single model they sell these days. Whether it fits or not. Which is a shame.
Otherwise, that interior does seem much better.
The 2.0 Liter turbo is said to have been heavily revised to provide more power. But also to be quieter. Which seems badly needed. I haven’t driven the Atlas myself but every time one drives by I am quite amazed at how loud the engine is.
Of course, in true VW fashion, no hybrid is offered. And that will probably be true in the US as well.
Which I think is a big mistake. I think these days, a big SUV should either offer a hybrid or a super smooth V6. Like the new Honda Passport.
The new design will probably keep the big VW Atlas going for a while. Until most buyers demand a hybrid. And later a real EV. So far, this seems like a stopgap.
Info screen too damn big. not integrated, I agree.
Lack of physical buttons.
These fools should change very little outside and rather add hybrid as option.
omg… so very dissapointed… actually very disgusted… I want the 2022 Atlas because the interior is bigger and it has the V6…. the interior of the 2024 is decent, but I’ve heard complaints about the hvac controls and everything with that screen, plus the turbo sucks
full of gimmicks
Not everyone wants EV. I don’t, many people I know don’t – and will never want any EV. Volkswagen understands it’s not going to thrive catering to a singular market.
I have the 2022 racing green with the V6 & im not getting rid of it anytime soon. I like the look, inside and out. Your opinion of it not looking good is well, your opinion. I know plenty of people who like it. The new ones aren’t great and I’ve driven the T2.0 and it lacks well.. everything. And I agree with the person above about “everyone doesn’t want an EV”.. they’re junk

My 2025 VW Atlas Cross Fit is fine inside and outside. It rides good and nothing else to say…
I have 2024 Atllas Peak Adition. Car features are really impressive but the issues are coming in the screen and Auto mobile charger does not work properly.when I contacted dealership they said it’s manufacturing fault and I have to wait. Now it’s been 11 months no news from them. Very bad customer service also car mileage is very high. Not recommended at all.
