2027 Honda Fit/Jazz.

Last Updated:

As mentioned earlier, it is almost time for a new Honda Jazz. Which used to be sold over here as the Honda Fit. The illustration above shows what would happen if Honda decided to go a bit “retro-futuristic” with the next generation.

The Honda Fit was sold in the US from 2006 to 2020, through 3 generations. A fourth generation came out in 2020 and has never been sold in North America since Honda decided to focus on the HR-V instead. This is really too bad as the Fit had many fans in the US. The current 4th generation is even available as a Hybrid in some markets.

Honda seems to be getting ready to launch a fifth-generation as soon as the end of this year. And of course, it will not be coming to the US. Again, too bad. Especially for the Hybrid version. I am currently test-driving a Civic Hybrid hatchback and have had no problem averaging 55MPG. Just imagine what a smaller Hybrid Fit would get. A small PHEV with over 50 miles of EV range wouldn’t be bad either, by the way.

Sales of the Fit in the US never went over 80,000 units a year, which was back in 2008. By the time Honda killed it over here in 2020, numbers were down to 32,488. At the same time, the HR-V went from 42,000 units in 2015 to over 122,000 last year. I guess it’s hard to make a business case for the poor old FIt over here.

And yet, why not!

  1. If Honda put in a multilink rear suspension and it could pass all the crash tests (I think the overlap was the issue), then I could see a return of this class of car. I really liked the shrunken minivan-like Fit, but I could see a retro futuristic one as well. But the current Jazz is probably too cutesy/frog-faced for American tastes. As Honda gets their solid state batteries on-line, its going to free up a lot of constraints with regard to vehicle size and space. So, anything will be possible.

  2. I own a 2019 sport. I have had 3 Honda fits in my lifetime. It is and has been the best car I have ever had bar none. I have done everything needed to do with it. Aside fitting 5 people altogether I have moved so many cargo with it more than a pick up truck or an SUV. I fold down the rear seats and line the interior with a tarp and just stuff it with stuff I need to move. Added to the fact it is fuel efficient I just love it.

  3. I have a 2017 Fit. I originally tried to buy one in 2006 but there were waiting lists to buy one and dealerships wanted a deposit just to secure a test drive. So I have one now and live it. Would love to replace this Fit with another one

  5. We are on our second Honda Fit and love it. Before the Fit was introduced in the U.S., we saw the Jazz in Europe. We told ourselves that if it should ever get to the U.S., we would get one. I have read that the Jazz now comes in a hybrid which is what we were hoping to get next. Not everyone wants a truck or SUV! Maybe Honda will get smart and reintroduce it…one can hope!

  6. Honda needs to wake up they know that the honda fit is one best cars sold in America a lot people love that car I have a2017 honda fit would love to have a2025 or 2026 model so please honda wake up sent the fit back to America
