Buick Electra.

Buick will soon unveil a new EV sedan for the Chinese market. It has been described as part of a “sub-brand,” but as you can see, the new car will actually wear the Buick logo.

We heard of it last year when GM announced work on an all-new platform specific to the Chinese market. GM will be able to produce EVs as well as PHEV models based on that platform. The teasers above the new Buick EV sedan. As well as two more future models. the usual SUV, as well as a new minivan. Since these are still very popular in China.

As you can see from the photos above, the new Electra sedan is basically a production version of last year’s Electra L concept. A great-looking sedan that really seems to be a match for the current onslaught of great new electric sedans in China.

Of course, there is very little chance something like this ever shows up in the US. First, because of the huge tariffs on everything. And also because of the current strong anti-EV push from the US government. At least it’s good to see GM doing its best to stay competitive in the Chinese market. Which is the largest one in the world. Competition is very fierce over there, and only the best will be left standing in just a few years.

  1. GM needs to stay in China so that it competes with the best now that our government has decided that the US will be the world’s leading producer of obsolete vehicles.

  2. I bet all of these are just based on chinese vehicles, not something created on GMs ultium platform. Probably why we’ll never see them.

  3. The sedan and SUV are attractive and could do well in the U.S. The hideous MPV can stay in China; it’s repulsive!

I’m a little disappointed that Buick hasn’t shown anything in the pipeline that is based on the great looking Electra GS Concept. That vehicle was a beauty!
