Next generation Chrysler New Yorker.

Last Updated:

It seems Chrysler is almost ready to start a revival of the brand. CEO Christine Feuel has been mentioning the new model multiple times over the past few months. And it seems a new sedan could be part of the plans

They have, of course, shown us the gorgeous Halcyon concept a few months ago. However, unlike previous STLA concepts like the Dodge Charger, Jeep Recon, and Wagonner S, the Chrysler concept doesn’t seem like a close preview of a production car at all. Especially with its futuristic space-age interior and doors. We have seen nothing concrete since.

I previously posted a few illustrations of a possible future Imperial sedan as well as an Imperial coupe. The illustration above shows what a future Chrysler New Yorker could look like. A car smaller and cheaper than an Imperial would be. A new New Yorker would basically replace the Chrysler 300 as the brand’s large sedan. However, these days it seems the name “300” is more meaningful than “New Yorker”. And yet….

The first Chrysler New Yorker was produced in 1940, and the last one in 1996. Through many generations, it went from a giant luxury sedan to a much smaller FWD model based on Chrysler’s LH cab-forward platform.

Of course, a new EV sedan based on the STLA platform could be anything Stellantis wants. RWD, FWD, or AWD. It could also offer ICE, Hybrid, PHEV, or EV powertrains.

We already know the first new Chrysler in ages will be an SUV, but why not something with a cool personality? I really like the Halcyon, but I think a translation to production would be really hard to do.

I nice upscale Chrysler sedan for the 21st century would be quite nice…

How about some good old Chrysler New Yorker ads from the past decades:
