2027 Hyundai Elantra.

These are more spy shots of the next-generation Hyundai Elantra for 2027.

As far as we can see on this camouflaged prototype, this will be quite an unconventional desgin. one that will, again, be a fastback withoiut a proper hatch. Just a small regular trunk opening.

The current generation Hyundai Elantra came out back in 2020. It received a “mid-cycle facelift” about 2 years ago. The new generation is rumored to come sometime next year.

Over the years, the Elantra has become and very modern-looking sedan. There is now a rumor from Korea about the next generation’s design being influenced by some past models. Which I really hope won’t really happen. I really cannot think of a super great-looking Elantra from many generations ago. the Elantra has evolved into a pretty modern looking sedan. This next one coul dbe a big gamble.

The Elantra will be a very important car for Hyundai since by that time, as the Sonata could be gone. And will not be replaced, at least in the US. The new Elantra could even grow a little bit in order to replace both models. It will probably also end up being one of Hyundai’s last ICE sedans. Since they are one of the most aggressive EV brands in the world already offering an almost full portfolio of electric models.

The new car is also rumored to keep the current generation’s platform, which makes sense. It’s been a trend for the past couple of years for most manufacturers who have been spending most of their R&D money on EVs.

By 2027, the new Elantra could also be a hybrid-only model or even a PHEV. By then there will also be a new Honda Civic and Toyota Corolla and both of these could have a standard EV powertrain.

The last ICE Elantra could turn out to be quite an interesting new car…

  1. When the current model makes this and its giant C pillar look dated, that is not a good sign. They were better off just letting it linger, but we know that’s something that H/K don’t do!

That’s only your opinion, and you haven’t even seen it unwrapped.

  4. I think this design is fantastic! The proportions are well-balanced.. dare I say, “tight”, which is a very good thing.
