2028 Volvo XC70.

The new Volvo XC70 is basically another SUV that probably looks a lot like the next generation EX60. As it is longer than the current XC60, it does have a slightly more wagon feel to it. Although not as attractive as Volvo’s current V90 and V60. It has just been launched in China, and we now have news it will come to the US.

Volvo has just announced it will start producing a new Hybrid model in the US “by the end of the decade”. A pretty vague statement that could mean anything between next year and 5 years from now. As we know, the new XC70 is a PHEV with an EV only range rated at 125 miles (In China) and is a prime candidate. However, Volvo mentions the new model would be design for the US. Which still can be an Americanized version of the XC70 pictured above.

Volvo’s CEO, Hakan Samuelsson describes the future model as “more an electric car, but with a Plan B. When the battery is flat, you have a combustion engine kicking in, but normally you’d drive it electric.” Basically trying to teach us what a PHEV is, in case we didn’t know…

The CX60 will also be produced in the US starting late next year. And we know the new EX60 EV is coming as well. Tha’s all before the US XC70.

The design of the new SUV is very clean and instantly recognized as a new Volvo. I personally think it looks great so far. Ad so much better than the blaoted and sad-looking new ES90 “sedan”. Which looks more like a turtle than an expensive sedan.
