Volvo EX60.

The top image shows the actual production version of the all-new Volvo EX60 EV. As it seems they have started building pre-production units of the new model. The Volvo EX60 will be a new EV sold alongisde the ragular, and aging, XC60. Which is Volvo’s most popular model.
Volvo isn’t saying much so far except fot this:
“On 21 January 2026, we will reveal the new Volvo EX60 in a livestreamed event from Stockholm, Sweden. Born electric, it will be the first car launched on our latest technology base – delivering a longer electric range than any Volvo car before it, along with a groundbreaking user experience.
The new EX60 is Volvo Cars’ first fully electric car in the premium mid-size SUV segment, a category where the company is already a leader. Set to become a cornerstone in the product line, the EX60 marks a significant step in Volvo Cars’ transformation into a fully electrified car maker.
The EX60 will be built in our Torslanda plant in Gothenburg, with production set to begin in the first half of 2026.”
The current XC60 will be sold alongside the new EX60 for a while. The XC60 got a few improvement for 2025, and the new EX60 will, as sual for EVs, be more expensive. With a projected base price of around $60,000.
The EX60 will be a very important new model for Volvo and will be the first one to use a brand-new platform called SPA3. That platform is so scalable it can actually be used for cars smaller than the current EX30 to something larger than the EX90. That means it will probably end up being used on all, or at least most new Volvo EVs soon.
The new EX60 will be a 5-seater SUV about the size of a Tesla Model Y. However, since Tesla drastically reduced its pricing, most of its competition is actually much more expensive with similar equipment. The current Model Y starts at $45,000 for the long-range RWD model. AWD currently adds $3000 to the price. Both models are loaded with everything. While a Hyundai Ioniq 5 Limited (loaded) is over $55,000. Same thing for the new Honda Prologue Touring.
Volvo has recently slightly revised its EV goals. Going from 100% EV by 2030, to 90 to 100% and including EVs as well as PHEV models.
A new EX60 EV will be competing with the production version of the BMW’s new iX3 SUV and a new electric Mercedes GLC Electric.
