What could the Toyota Yaris look like for the 2027 model year?

While we don’t have the Yaris to kick around in the US anymore, Toyota is working on an all-new generation. Since the current one has been around since 2020.

For some odd reason, Toyota even sells a Mazda 2-based Hybrid they call the Yaris as well in some markets since 2022. This makes things quite confusing if you’re really trying to figure out Toyota’s small model. If you really want to be even more confused, there is also a Yaris sedan that is based on a Daihatsu.

The current generation was never sold here since the last one we got in the US dates back to 2020.

Maybe it’s time for Toyota to just make one Yaris, even if it offers more than one body style. The illustration above shows what a new generation could look like. We shouldn’t be afraid to dream up something quite modern. Especially after seeing the futuristic Toyota Corolla concept a few weeks ago, it seems Toyota might really surprise us with their future new models and their designs.

They seem to be finally letting loose a bit more with their upcoming designs, and that will be great news.

  1. With the expected recession coming, automakers would be wise to have a subcompact sized vehicle like the Fit, Yaris, or Versa ready for low purchase price consumers, without all the panoroof, ADAS, leatherseating, Google-built-in nonsense that is laden onto cars now and has ballooned purchase prices of the average car today.

  2. If the Toyota Corolla hatch looked like this (but stretched) it would probably sell a lot better.
