Should “almost dead”Chrysler even think of a new Imperial sedan?

I say, why not? At this point, it would seem that anything is better than nothing. Or just selling the same Minivan for 10 years. I think Chrysler could do much worse than coming up with a new Imperial luxury sedan.

Chrysler has been mentioning a revised Pacifica Minivan coming soon. With an all-new EV one arriving later, as well as an SUV. While we haven’t heard anything lately about the SUV or the electric Minivan, we have seen pictures just a few days ago of the revised Pacifica driving around covered in camouflage. We should see the real thing pretty soon. A nice gesture, but Chrysler will still have only one model on sale after this comes out. They need more, much more.

I realize it might sound crazy to go from almost nothing to sell to going upmarket, but really, why not? A nice, large, luxurious new sedan based on the new Dodge Charger could actually put the Chrysler brand back on the map. The car wouldn’t even need to be that much of a hit, but it would allow Chrysler to be back in the news with something different. Not just another mid-cycle refresh on the old Minivan.

Another issue Chrysler will face is Stellantis’ problematic pricing. A new Chrysler sedan based on the Dodge Charger would, of course, have to be priced higher than the Dodge. A car that already starts at over $56,000 for the gas version. (The EV powertrain available on the 2-door Charger is currently a $6000 premium.)

I say go nuts! Give us another Imperial.

  1. Don’t spend another dollar on Chrysler. Give the minivan to Dodge and close the brand down. Nobody is asking for a new Chrysler lineup. All their old customers are dead.

  2. Stellantis has zero understanding of the American market, tastes, even price points – what a leadership disaster. Even Jeep is in trouble. End Chrysler and RAM. Just have Dodge and Jeep, and see if they can keep that afloat.
