Future Mercedes “Baby G” illustrations…

At first, these recent illustrations of the future Mercedes compact “Baby G” off-road SUV. But they actually don’t really match the few details we’ve already seen in an official teaser a few months ago.
The smaller model on the right of the images above shows the new compact Mercedes. It also shows roof rails. Something the illustrated SUV doesn’t have, and something the prototypes recently caught test driving do have. It also shows a circular spare wheel cover. Not a square one. Which is a weird idea anyway.
And in general, let’s hope the new model looks better than these illustrations. A lot better. Not that it will need to, since rich people all over the world cannot wait for this new Mercedes. The big G-Class SUV has become the darling of Russian mafia members, movie villains, and generally unsavory super-wealthy characters. Probably about 0.001% of them are actually taken off-road. And at over $155,000 to start, it is quite a status symbol.
That price also means there is plenty of room for a smaller and less expensive one. One that could still be priced at around $100,000 or so. As this thing won’t be going after the Jeep Wrangler anytime soon. It will still be a simple status, except a bit cuter.
As far as we know, the new, smaller G will be an EV. At least at first. And no matter what, it will be a hit and another cash cow for Mercedes.
