New 2026 Buick Electra E7 Hybrid.

Buick will soon unveil its all-new Electra E7. Unlike the “regular” Electra lineup, which is all EVs, this new batch is all EREVs. Like the stunning new Electra L7 sedan.

All are so far only available in China, of course. Even though the Hybrid market is heating up and EREVs are coming from Nissan and Scout, among others, GM doesn’t seem to think the US is interested. All they promised us was a PHEV Equinox. Something that has already been on sale in China for over a year…

The design of the new Buick SUV looks a lot like the concept we saw last year. Except for the proportions. This made the concept really interesting and dynamic. That has mostly been lost in the translation to the production model. (Just compare the rear views.)

For some reason, the new E7 is described as a PHEV. It is probably not, since it shares its structure with the E7 sedan. It is powered by a 1.5 Liter engine and an electric motor.

No pricing yet, of course, since the car will be out later this year. But the sedan starts at under $24,000 in China. That’s right. Just $24,000… Even at almost double the price in the US, these would still probably be competitive.

I wonder what it would take for GM to start selling more intersint Buick models somewhere here…

  1. Other than the taillight graphics, what exactly is “interesting” about it? It doesn’t even look like a Buick! This could be any vehicle from any manufacturer. This is a very bad era for vehicle design. Everything looks similar and completely generic.

  2. Getting serious Toyota vibes from the front end design. Not a good thing for a Buick.

  3. It has the Toyota headlights and you know how many SUVs have that same greenhouse on the road today not just the Acura MDX greenhouse. It just looks like anything on the road today.
