Add a Lexus TZ to the Toyota EV Family.

Toyota Highlander, Subaru Getaway, and soon, the new Lexus TZ. All 3 are variations of the same exact car. A large 3-row electric SUV from Toyota.
Differences are very slim between the Toyota and the Subaru versions. Mostly the front and rear lights. And from spy shots we’ve already seen, the Lexus will basically look the same as well. With a Lexus front end, of course.
Toyota might put more of an effort into it by redesigning the interior, but I doubt it. The car is also basically the same design we saw back in 2021. It looked really modern back then and is just fine 5 years later. In a way, that could actually work in its favor, since EV design trends haven’t evolved quite as quickly as some expected. Clean, simple shapes and minimal detailing still feel current, especially compared to some of the over-styled newer entries from competitors.
Prototypes have been caught testing in Germany, which could mean the new large EV might be sold in Europe. Which is a bit surprising, since Lexus has such a tiny presence over there. I guess Toyota might be pushing its luxury brand into the EV world a bit more. Especially in countries where EVs are selling better and better. And Europe is still one of the key battlegrounds for premium electric SUVs, even if Lexus has a lot of catching up to do.
The Lexus TX, the brand’s large gas-powered 3-row SUV, sold over 57,000 units last year. Which isn’t bad at all, considering how boring and dull it looks. Something much more interesting, like the TZ, could add a few sales to this. It could also attract a younger, more tech-focused audience that might not have considered Lexus before, especially if pricing stays somewhat competitive.
As you can see from the official teaser above, we won’t have to wait too long to find out everything about that new Lexus EV.
