New Chrysler 300 a No Brainer?

The illustration above shows what many are still wishing for: a next-generation Chrysler 300 sedan. While we just learned that Chrysler will not be one of the 4 Stellantis main brands, that doesn’t mean it won’t get anything. Yet…
Of course, a new 300 could easily be based on the existing STLA platform from Stellantis. Which would also mean a variety of powertrains, including a Turbo inline 6 cylinder gas engine, a PHEV, and an EV. Since Dodge is also working on a V8 Charger, a Chrysler 300 V8 could also make a comeback, even if only as a limited or halo model to attract attention. A new 300 could basically be a Chrysler version of the new Dodge Charger 4-door.
Of course, the key to all this is the ever-shrinking sedan market. Especially the near-luxury sedan. As has been the case for decades at Chrysler, value could be the savior here. Offering more for less. Something a bit flashy and impressive. The affordable luxury dream. Just like in the old Lee Iacocca days. Which is back when Chrysler was doing very, very well.
A luxury sedan like the Genesis G80 starts at around $58,000. A loaded Honda Accord with accessories is under $42,000. I would imagine an upscale-looking larger sedan, like a new 300, could find quite a few takers at under $50,000. However, the Dodge Charger R/T 4-door starts at around $52,000 with a 420 HP inline 6 cylinder engine.
Chrysler could easily lower the price a bit by offering a base model 300 sedan with less power. A well-designed interior, modern tech, and a strong visual identity could make it feel far more expensive than it really is. That formula has worked before, and there’s no reason it couldn’t work again.
However, let’s hope a new Chrysler 300 looks better than the generic illustration above…
