2028 Range Rover GT Preview.

We already know a brand new Range Rover model called the GT is around the corner. Now we learn Range Rover will actually kill the Velar and Evoque to make room for the new model.

It’s kind of sad to see these two models go. The Evoque was Range Rover’s entry-level model, starting at $50,000 in the US. The Velar was a step up, starting at around $62,000. In my opinion, both were some of the nicest-looking SUVs available today. I guess the new GT could be priced at around $60,000 to start. That would be logical. However, the new GT will be an EV. And that usually means quite a jump in prices. Which we have seen with the Porsche Macan. The new EV model was about $20,000 more than the gas generation it replaced.

The next model up is the Sport, starting at over $83,000. Which leaves plenty of room for just one model below.

My guess is the new GT price will start at over $70,000. Maybe even closer to $80,000. Just like Jaguar, it seems Range Rover is pushing its lineup and pricing way up. That’s where the big profits are.

Range Rover has already unveiled the interior of the new GT. And it is nothing like any current Range Rover interior. Actually looking quite similar to the new Jaguar Type 01.

I personally really like Range Rover‘s current interiors. And I really like wood trim inside a luxury British car. Call me crazy. Just like the new Jag, the new GT seems to bypass any sort of wood trim. Which is a shame. It seems nicely designed and all, but very, very cold. And that setup of a center tablet and small, narrow screen in front of the driver is everywhere these days. This is basically Hyundai’s new Pleos setup.

At least the Jaguar Type 01 really tries to do something different with zero large center screen.

Range Rover should have tried harder…

The illustrations above are based on new images from Range Rover. And I expect them to be at least 90% close to what the real thing will look like.

  1. I see so many Evoque (my favorite) and Velar models where I live. It is hard to believe a more expensive, electric replacement will satisfy the needs of both markets Range Rover is abandoning. I am all for the GT but not at the sacrifice of two seemingly solid selling models. And the interior, just like with the claustrophobic Type 01, is bad.

  2. Not quite sure why a brand such as JLR have to follow the many, they should just install the tech but keep all the knobs and buttons and refinements that have defined them as stand out from the crowd over the years
Just looks cheap and run of the mill internally

  3. Nice looking. But the iconic headlamp LED light design has sadly disappeared yet it was cool.
