This is it. The 9-3 is back in production.
Saab won’t say where the engine comes from. But it is a 2.0 Liter with 220HP.
The all electric version is coming out in a few months.

Anonymous: up past your bed time?
It's the "old" direct-injection Saab engine that we saw in the short-lived 9-5, which is to say that it's a newer engine than the one that we last saw stateside in the 9-3.
This is a big step for Saab, but the new car coming out next year will be an even bigger deal.
So it's a turbo 2.0 it seems if it has that much power. Not bad for something that size. Seems like this would be an advantage for a Focus based Lincoln vehicle…..essentially what they did with the MKC.

It's awesome that somehow Saab is still hanging on. We need more, not fewer, small independent carmakers. They are a dying breed. Chinese ownership is scary, but they couldn't possibly rape and defile the Saab brand any more than General Motors did, so whatever. Hopefully they make a go of it and prove that there is a market for unique, niche-brand cars in the US.
