More pictures of the 2013 Ford Fusion

Turns out the base engine is still the “old” 2.5 liter with 170hp.
I drove a Mazda6 and Mazda3 with this engine and never liked it as much as the previous 2.3 Liter version.
It is just not the smoothest around…

The 2 other, and much more modern, options will be a 1.6 Liter turbo with 179hp. And a larger 2.0 Liter turbo with 237hp.
No more V6 option.
Only the 1.6 Liter can be ordered with a 6 speed manual.
Ford expects the 1.6 L engine to get 37 MPG on the highway and 26 in the city. Which would be good numbers for a smaller car.

  1. This design is totally working. It's midway between the swoopy Sonata and the very evolutionary Malibu. So, it should do well.

You gotta love the new Ford grill (thanks Aston Martin,) the thin headlamps and the rear trunk lid using soft plastic so that it flows into the bumper. The side swipe below the green house may be a bit too emphasized, but I'll wait to see it in person.

Overall, with all the engine choices, the styling, the interior, the technological options and Ford's quality, this thing should sell faster than hotcakes.

Oops… one question. Why does Ford still need the Taurus? It's not full size and it's way behind the times considering the new Fusion.

  2. The interior looks roomier than it seems from the outside. I'd like to test drive one if I get the opportunity.
