2013 Cadillac ATS
Last Updated:
Finally. Official pictures of the real thing.
And by now. No real surprise.
The car actually looks really conservative to me. Following that same German sausage recipe of the same design in different sizes.
It just looks like a smaller CTS. The front end is even less original and softer.
Engines are:
-2.5 Liter 4 cyinder. Same unit offered as the base choice for the Malibu and Verano. Hardly something that should end up in a Cadillac.
-2.0 Liter Turbo with 270hp.
-3.6 Liter V6 with 318hp
Both manual and automatic will be available.
So far, all the specs are there to compete. Coupe and convertible should follow in a bout a year.
I like it, the interior especially.
this should have been released back in 2008 along with CTS as a 1-2 punch! oh well I guess better late than never …
Styling is almost mundane. I like it, but I feel they could have been a little edgier. Hopefully, fit/finish/materials are world class. If not, I doubt they will sway very many BMW or Mercedes buyers.
I don't think it's great looking, but you can't deny That cadillac is finally growing into its design theme. It's blending it's straight lines with softer edging allot better then previous. The interior design is finally more organic, with softer materials. If priced rite I do think this will work
It's a nice-looking car. A little conservative, but its target market shouldn't be put off by that. Good interior, too.
Seems a little strange that official shots of new Cadillacs all seem to feature my home town of Melbourne (yep, down here in Oz)!
I do not get it. A smaller CTS? Why?
^ It's called the 3-Series, and its the largest market for BMW.
I think it is ugly.
I also don't think that Cadillac's design theme ages well. It definitely isn't a timeless design.
A smaller CTS that looks exactly like its bigger brother(couldn't they depart a little from the dorky taillights at least?) And of course, the marketing BS hype that "GM will challenge the Germans with a small Cadillac." How many luxury brands have accomplished that so far? Hopefully it will be more reliable than the 3 series…
Interesting car. Needs to be less literal in the rear and front design. and a "It should have stayed in Vegas' interior. Somehow Caddy always makes interior luxury look like a dressed up hooker. I just don't get that.
The headlights look like a Nissan Sentra.
Cadillac's Arts and Science styling is, I'm afraid, falling victim to generic GM-speak that began with the last generation Malibu.
The design looks so much like the new XTS in a smaller package that I doubt it will appeal to the young 3-series crowd.
To me, this is a safe design. Although it may perform like a bat out of hell, remember… No guts, No Glory.
Hopefully they will fulfill the empty promise of the Buick Regal GS with a AWD ATS with a manual transmission…then they'd have direct competition for much of the range of the 3 series.
Fry the hen that laid an egg like this. Cadillac – the Standard of the world – I know what the S of ATS stands for. No, I won´t tell. If Harley Earl would see this he would laugh for 24 hours and wonder whether there was a designer involved. Poor GM, are there no more talented people in the studios?
I think the styling works in profile.. the greenhouse and door shapes in particular remind of the M-B C-class.. but the front and rear ends are lazy and outdated. The tall, narrow rear end makes me think of the CTS.. but not the current one, the 2003 one.
