2011 VW Passat
Last Updated:
The US will probably never get the revised Passat.
We will get our own “larger and cheaper” VW mid sized sedan instead.
Now the Passat looks like its big brother, the Phaeton. Again.
With the same front end used on every other VWs.
I don’t think it fits the rest of the car. At all…
Someone please tell me why is it that the best looking VW is the CC and the others suck? Is it because Peter Schyerer designed the CC before he left?
I'm glad if the US doesn't get it if it looks like this. This is SUPER UGLY!!!
Looks like the previous generation Chevy Malibu.
YAWN.
Why do German companies (Audi, VW, BMW…) have this urge to make all their cars look exactly the same? Don't they realize how boring it is?
Plz tell me that ALL of tha photos of tha new vw's r just a very late april's fool joke thats not funny…at all!!! It looks like they're neither evolutionizing nor revolutionizing. What they doin with this–LOOKS R EVERYTHING!
Word of advice to VW designers, do NOT give the CC a facelift, I repeat do NOT give the CC a faclift.
It looks like a lot of make-up on an old lady. They can keep it.

Ummm do you have any idea how much brand recognition is worth?
I guess you don't have a business degree.
Is it me or are these new VW vehicles boring as HELL?!
VW design is clean, uncomplicated – I don't know why American's can't appreciate that. There is something to be said about solid, functional design, and I think the new VW direction is great. It looks like it is an evolution of the late 90's Passat and Jetta which is what they should have done in the first place rather than invest in the huge chrome grill design. The New Phaeton is a bit of a mis-step, truth be told. It looks too terribly close to the Ford 500 redesign when it was christened Taurus!
I used to appreciate the clean, classic design of the Passat, until I bought one. It's beauty was only skin deep. Bad engineering and worse reliability made it look pretty ugly to me. I now own a completely reliable and inexpensive to maintain Ford, and that is much more attractive to me than the way it looks.
Sorry, but they are putting THE SAME GRILL design on every fricking VW. Solid and functional is one thing, dull and derivative is another.
Except for the usual interesting wheels, nothing much to deduce from this photo. Perhaps we could say that it looks like a bar of soap?
VW came out with a great thing in the 1998 with the New Passat. I'm sure this car is great to drive as well, but VW design just keeps getting worse.
