Looks much better in person. Beautiful piece of sculpture at any price.
It's an invisible nothing vehicle.
January 22, 2010 8:24 PM : you think that's in invisible. what are you driving, the bat-mobile?
I think Hyundai and Kia are the ones to watch. This is so much better looking than a CRV, RDX, Rogue, Escape, Tiguan, and Liberty. The Equinox and Mazda C7 are probably the only 2 small SUV's that are on par with the Tuscon as far as styling is concerned. The Koreans seem to take design seriously, while the Japanese engineer great cars that are not that great looking (with exception of Infiniti and Mazda).
I happen upon a Chevy dealer this past week to check out the 2010 Equinox. What a great piece of work. Interior is amazing and the liner material is done as well a say any Volkswagen models. The fabric in the LT model was extremely well done. I was impressed. Now it so happen that there was a Hyundai dealer next door and I checked out the Tucson model. Same size as the Chevy, but priced about $1,000 less with comparable features. The Chevy had movable rear seating, the Tucson had standard steering wheel controls and better alloy wheels. Both had very good features for the money, but what to choose? The point is, competition in this segment is getting awesome and we, the consumer will be on the winning receiving end of it. I still can't make up my mind which to go for.
Is that new?!
It looks like a gerbil. The low lighting in that commercial is to hide the stupid infantile lines.
Transtecha, I think that you might end up getting a better deal on the Chevy, given GM's predicament. Hyundai is in good shape and this is brand new, so they ar less desperate to sell it. While the Equinox is a great vehicle, Chevy is probably going to be more motivated to sell them. I don't think you will go wrong with either car, but I would see what you can negotiate. Good luck.
Life's short. Buy what you want.

Drive the Equinox. It f-ing sucks. It was by far my least favorite out of the 6 or so models I test drove.
The reason why it gets such good gas mileage is because it refuses to downshift on the highway and it upshifts as early as possible. It completely RUINS the driving experience.
It also doesn't feel nimble at all. I thought the cloth on the LT model felt awful and if you think those plastics are nice you are nuts.
I test drove all of the usual suspects when we were looking for a new CUV for my wife. The '10 CR-V won for doing everything very well. We did not test the new Tucson as it was not available but it looks fantastic.
