Let’s get to know the new Acura TSX Wagon
Last Updated:
By watching some videos of the Euro Accord Tourer.
It does seem like a really nice car.
So far, the sedan version is about $5000 less than a similarly equipped Audi A4.
We’ll see how they price the wagon but it could be around $32 000.
And unlike its German competition, Acuras come loaded with very few options.
00000000So what's old is new again. Station wagons will rein Cool once again.
The new generation never wants to drive what their parents did but all like the room and comfort of the box.
Sometimes it's a tall box and sometimes it's a short box or a hatch fastback box.
any ten year old kid can pick up a telephone and order a set of leather seat, navigation, HID light, then have it delivered to a big box, and get then call some guys to install it into a car. and that's acura's approach towards "luxury", none of their luxury features other than the under-used SH-AWD actually contains any automotive engineering merit beyond their honda counterparts. At least audi is constantly trying differentiate itself from VW, their recent changes like adjusting the weight & torque distribution and shortening the front overahng to give it a neutral look is the proof.
Don't forget it will be infinitely more reliable as well.
As a former owner of a 2003 A4 Avant I can tell you that I would never purchase a German vehicle ever again. This excludes Mercedes since I have had great luck with them, my current 2006 E350 has been flawless.
I might have to look at one of these for the wife…

Moronic comment.
An A4 is pretty much a warmed over Passat with higher trim content and better quality materials.
You can get nearly all of the same features on a Passat as you can get on a A4.
Differentiation??? AHAHAHAHA.
The South African market sounds familiar, like ours…with buyers having the same concerns and whims.
Hell, the EU's like that too, which is why brands not named Audi, BMW, and Mercedes got out of the E-segment.
I like this. As an ex Honda owner and a current Audi owner, I'd take an Audi over this any day. Especially given the lukewarm reviews of the TSX sedan. But lookswise, this is very sharp. I'm glad to see wagons being offered again.
The second video is very informative. I did surprise to learn that the boot has less room than its sedan counterpart. Honda could increase this cargo room easily by providing a standard net behind the seats like that in the Mercedes.

Actually, you're wrong. The A4 is on a different platform than a Passat. The original B5 A4 (and maybe the B6) shared some engine configurations on lower range Audi models. But that's where it ended. There has never been a twin turbo or V8 Passat as were in the S4s.
I like the looks of the TSX wagon. But the latest TSX is struggling a little bit more than the original TSX did. It's just not very competitive. I'd take an Audi, or maybe even the CTS that has rear-wheel-drive.
I only have two concerns for this car.
One is that four banger. I wish they would offer a V6.
The other is the cargo area. Notice that the back seats do not fold down completely. There is a 6 to 8 inch section on each side of the seat that remains in the up position. It looked rather odd..
But all in all, I think I like this car. I sure as hell like it a lot more than that abomination they call the crosstour.
The TSX is now available with a V6 option in the US. I would imagine the wagon will too…
OVER $30k for a HONDA??? Now being dumb isn't enough to buy a Honda — you have to be rich AND stupid. A pretty unlikely combination outside of Hollywood.
It looks better than the Honda CrossManure.

They share the same platform, regardless of what you think. The Passat and A4 are on the VW corporate Group B platform and have been since the inception of the A4. So the A4=Passat.
The Passat was available with an 8 cylinder engine for a few years and has been available with 4Motion for quite some time as well.
Do some research.

Riiiight.
Is that why their sales are still pretty strong?
People buy the $40,000 Lexus ES which is nothing more than a Camry.
People buy the $80K LS as well.
Fool.
Americans dont want station wagons…except the wives of the rich who buy Mercedes wagons for their useless shopping boutiques…Maybe Cadillac CTS wagon now.
