Mercedes Concept Fascination

Last Updated:

Besides the obnoxious name, I think the car looks great.
A great idea too. Bringing back the coupe/wagon idea.

This “concept” is actually what we’ll see next year as the all new CLK Coupe. Except without the wagon/hatch rear end.
The CLK is a nice looking car, but has never be really striking. Especially for the asking price.
This designs looks much more upscale to me.

I just hope they also offer this hatch version…

  1. MBinsider: This car previews a couple of cars coming forth from Mercedes. This car previews the CLK coupe, As well as the E-Class styling the E-Class will have traditional split grille similar to the current E-Class. But the most important thing about the Fascination is that it will become a production model, the RLK, another model that will premier in January is the Mercedes CLE a two door version of the C-Class. This means the price point for the CLK will increase significantly the models are both made off of the same architecture.

The CLK will compete with the likes of Audi’s A5, where as the CLE (A two door coupe, NOT four door coupe as rumored) will compete against the new Lexus IS 250 C, BMW 3-series Coupe. The good news is that the there are no plans to bring import the CLC Coupe.

Also for Geneva expect the new CLS concept which will blow your mind. And the Mercedes BLK hybrid, a small crossover set to compete against BMW upcoming X1, and Audi’s Q3. The styling is more reflective of the ML-Class rather than the blocky GL styles.

There are also sketches of a ML-Variant that has a fastback similar to the BMW X6. Look for the demise of the R-Class in two years, replaced by a a new model with styling via the CLS.

    And that’s the rundown!

  2. This is the CLK (e Class COupe) and the E Class front end. I highly doubt that they’ll produce the shooting brake version though. I just can’t see that.

  3. Unfortunately Chrysler has decided not to bring out the Dodge Magnum version of this E-based sport wagon.
