The next one should be car based. Maybe using a version of the Sonata platform.
The Sorento has always been a really nice looking SUV with a much better than expected interior.
And most owners seem really happy with them.
This one should be even better.
Let’s hope they keep the prices down. Because, let’s face it, this is pretty much Kia’s only advantage.
They don’t have better quality or design than the competition. And their image is much worse.
I bet the arrival of Chinese cars is a pretty scary thought for Hyundai/Kia…
I beg to differ on Kia not having the quality and design on par with the competition. I have a feeling the new gen Kia vehicles are going to deliver better quality and design while still being of better value. That seems like the forumla for success to me.

WHO SAYS ? my 2 year old kia is unbelievable, tons of added features standard that the competitors did not offer and not 1 single problem, except for 2 minor recalls which were not much of an issue,, 1 for the radiator cap and one for the fuse panel cover, they replaced it and cannot tell a difference both taken care of in 5 minutes at the dealer, try that toyota !! And once they replace the spectra all there cars will have excellent designs !!
So the next Sorrento with be a Santa Fe clone…I guess that’s ok since the Borrego has come to town.

Get back to us when you’ve driven one for four years. By then, if you have the means, I’m sure you will opt to upgrade to another brand. Driving Kias are reminiscent of the beaters you see in third-world regions and I haven’t seen one over three years old that still hums. They’re pretty bad compared to just about everything else. Kia still only competes on price, so if they lose that advantage, they’re screwed.
I have an 04′ Optima and never had any serious issues with it. Also, that is more than four years because I purchased mines in fall of 03′.
To me it is the advertising that needs to get better. Also, just last year, their quility beat Lexus.
My Kia Optima will hit five years in October. I only had minor issues such as my transmission had frozen last Winter. My Spark plugs had to be changed during the second year. Hmmm, if I’m boring anyone that means that I’m not really having any problems with this car. If I get rid of it, I’ll trade it in for another Kia. So after more than four years, I’m happy with what I purchased.
