CTS Coupe
Last Updated:
These are pictures I took at the show.
The car is pretty stunning in person. The rear looks pretty futuristic.
Production will start next year (as well as the wagon) and the car will be labeled a 2010.
Expect bigger bumpers, among other small changes…
CTS=Cool Terrific Sedan
This is one of the best made cars coming from GM.
Well done.
WoW, it actually looks like a hatch in that first pic, but that’s not a BAD thing. It reminds me a little of the Cavalier Hatch from awhile back….again, but really a bad thing. But what is that in there next to it in that last pic?
The Provoc Concept. Another nice looking one…
A hatchback Caddy. LOL!
it’s not a hatch.
The designers decided against a hatch because they were afraid or reactions like yours….

No, not a hatch, but, rather, styled like one. The reaction is still the same even if it’s just a typical trunk.
I wonder why Americans are so skittish about hatchbacks. They’re ever so practical, but people can’t seem to grow up.
Hatch issue aside, I love Cadillac’s new style.
I am in love. Any word on a drop-top version?
It’s weird that Americans are designing cars that look like a hatchback but have a regular trunk, and Europeans are designing sedans with a hatchback-like trunk (the new Skoda Superb; also, BTW, the Seat Toledo of the early 90s).
finally, a 2010 model that actually looks like it comes from the year 2010.
i think there’s a lot of stigma leftover (from the early 80s) about hatchbacks. plus if you want to hide something in the trunk (like a dead body) it’s a separate space from the passengers. that decaying corpse smell really gets into the leather after a while.
I hope the tops of the taillights get lopped off, and it grows real door handles. Other than that, pretty desirable.
So it’s a notchback coupe that looks like a hatch.
But they didn’t want to make a hatch, because Americans don’t like hatches.
But it looks like a hatch.
And like a triangle.
Got it!
