Even better looking than the Korean model. The grille is much cleaner….
A classy car, for those who don’t buy cars for the image.

Nice grill, but the rest of the Genesis is too bland and too derivative of too many other luxury cars out already. Plus it brings nothing new insofar as amenities and features to the segment, aside from price. And luxury car buyers don’t concern themselves with price. Huyndai should have done this years ago; as it is they’re just late to the party.
Just save up and get a freakin Japanese made Infiniti.
Is this the version that the USA will get? I agree this grill looks better.
Buick should have a car this nice.
Not awful. But it’s way too distilled and bland. Beyond bland. It’s no longer shocking that Hyundai dosn’t build total crap any longer, so this isn’t as revolutionary as when the Sonata launched. People’s expectations are higher of Hyundai now, so I’m not sure this is going to be a hit. The over $30k pricepoint is very competitive. That’s approaching serious money and I don’t know anyone with that kind of coin that would consider a Hyundai. Especially if it looks like this.
An Infiniti is already such a yawn fest that you’d have to be half retarded to bother saving for one over this.
I like it a lot…
When it will be time to sell my ’03 maxima, i’m gonna buy one of these !
lol, nice to finally see the blue collars driving nicer cars than the yuppie douchebags (who have mostly relegated themselves to glorified subcompacts such as the GTI).
Jokes aside, chances are the Genesis are a far better car than any of those poking at it will ever have the pleasure to own. No, a 8 year old BMW thats falling apart is not a better car, and once these idiots figure that one then 90% of the Hyundai bashing will stop.
I did something I never thought I’d do for a SEDAN…..fall in LOVE.
For those bashing….DON’T BUY IT…simple as that. If you want to pay those extra service premiums for your Lexus/BMW/Mercedes/Audi…feel free.
“nice to finally see the blue collars driving nicer cars than the yuppie douchebags “
Clearly you have an inferioity complex. And this is only going to compete with an avalon or lucerne. Not a BMW, no matter how old it is.
Genesis..is the beginning
I own a 2007 Hyundai Santa Fe Limited and for those who think that Hyundai is the same cheapo brand of yester year, they really are far behind the curve.
Stop bashing and test drive one even if you don’t buy it and then tell yourself it isn’t as good or better than the other well known Asian brands. With a starting price of $29k, this car is loaded with all the hi-tech toys of cars costing twice as much.
Only your bias will prevent you from seeing the Genesis as a big time breakthrough car for Hyundai.
Yeah, its that good.
Well… to MY eyes the Genesis is a beautiful car. I’m quite seriously thinking of trading in my 1993 Lexus LS400 for it. Just look at what the top Genesis comes with.
* A ULEV certifide 368 h.p. 4.6-liter V8 that uses regular grade fuel
* 6-speed automatic transmission with SHIFTRONIC manual control
* Rear Wheel Drive
* Electronic active front head restraints
* Electronic Stability Control
* Eight airbags
* Heated / cooled seats
* High Intensity Discharge (HID) headlamps with adaptive leveling
* Push-button start
* Navigation with backup camera
* Electric parking brake
* Standard Bluetooth technology
* iPod/USB auxiliary inputs
* HD Radio receiver
* XM Satellite Radio with NavTraffic
* Lexicon Discrete Surround Audio Systems
* Automatic windshield defogger with humidity sensor
* Rain-sensing wipers
* Smart cruise control
* Five-link front and rear suspension
* 53/47 front-to-rear weight distribution
* 12-14 percent higher dynamic torsional rigidity and a lower body structure weight than the BMW 5-series and Mercedes-Benz E-Class
* A leather-wrapped dash
* AND MORE!!
And speaking of the stereo system – read the following from the Hyundai Press Release.
“Rolls Royce Phantom and Hyundai Genesis are the only automobiles to offer a Lexicon-branded state-of-the-art audio system featuring LOGIC 7 technology. The Lexicon surround sound audio system includes a 12-channel digital amplifier and 17 speakers producing more than 500 watts of sound in 7.1 discrete audio. Genesis is also the first popular brand to offer the clarity of digital HD Radio technology from the factory. Navigation-equipped Genesis models also include a 30-gigabyte hard drive and XM NavTraffic. Like every 2009 Hyundai, Genesis comes standard with XM Satellite Radio. Auxiliary USB and iPod inputs allow drivers to fully control and charge iPods directly from the head unit.”
Add to all of that…
“A no deductible five-year/60,000-mile bumper-to-bumper protection, 10-year/100,000-mile limited powertrain warranty, and seven-year/unlimited mileage anti-perforation coverage.”
It all sounds like one hell of a nice car to me. And don’t know what some of YOU guys are looking at.
Craig!! :o)
Hyundai / Kia is much better at copying the (BMW/MB) competition than Lexus (400) EVER was. While certainly not origional, (and not in the league of Infinity or Cadillac;) it will undoubtedly steal some sales from Toyota (Lexus).
I like the looks of everything except for the wheels. If they got the driving dynamics right it should be a great vehicle!
MR.
The instrument panel on the brown interior just screams “cheap”. The black is much nicer.
I was down on it at first but it’s looking better and better the more I see it. Pics don’t tell the whole story we’ll see when it hits the streets. Hard to dismiss a car this nice for $30,000. The best bang for the buck in automotive history? Hmmmm
“Clearly you have an inferioity complex. And this is only going to compete with an avalon or lucerne. Not a BMW, no matter how old it is.”
Wow, you are a moron. Anyone who would buy some used low spec BMW rather than this might as well get “pns car” personal plates from their ego issues.
I am really excited about this car – I am seriously thinking about trading my Volvo for one. But I must add that I don’t think that it will be $30K – it will be much, much more (at first). Loaded Azeras costs more than $30K and I don’t think that the two will have identical selling price points (that would kill the Azera, which I think will happen anyway). I am guessing that base (with a few options) will be about $34 and a fully loaded one will be pushing $40K!!!!

Nice. Well then poopie-pants, anyone who would buy a Hyundai and try to pass it off for a BMW might as well have “getoh kar” personal plates from THEIR ego issues.
Snotty comments aside, I would take a three year old Audi, BMW or Lexus any day over a new Hyundai. I’ve owned all of these premium brands at one time or another and they’ve treated me very well. Hyundai, on the other hand, has not proven to be a smart buy for those people I know who own them. For a disposable economy car, these shortcomings come with the territory. To spend real money on one is out of the question.
As if those aren’t enough, Hyundai has already delivered their first Genesis in the USA . . . . .
