wasnt the 6 unveiled in europe different from the one to be sold in the u.s.? let’s hope not. and i just saw an accord ex in the red metallic at my local dealer, it has a nice profile in person and a roomy interior, but i think its too big, something the mazda will have an advantage with. cant wait for the diesel accord
of course they are simila they are both ugly japanes cars
why don’t you put a g 6 in there and see what happens
or a malibu
and what about the fusion
why always the japanes crap!!!!!!!!!!
You guys are serious? The Mazda6 is beautiful while the Accord sucks big time. If American buyers truly prefer this Accord over the Mazda6 then all i can say is i am glad i do not live in the USA
Because (with the exception of the “yet to be seen production version of the Malibu) those cars are garbage.
Dollar for dollar, there is no comparison.
Maybe that’s why Ford is near bankrupt, GM is only now starting to turn it around and Chrysler was dumped by AMG.
keep talking douchebag…obviously the rattle from the G6 or Malibu has dislodged something in your brain.
Righhhht Douchebag.
Yes, we all know that the Ford Focus is Japanese!!!
Get a brain, why don’t you?
Not even CLOSE, the Honda looks like a 5 year old Hyundai, while the Mazda is the first car ever to actually challenge the gorgeous Altima.
“They actually look very similar….”
Yeah, if you have the eyesight of Mr. Magoo.
The Mazda 6 is a great looking car, compared to the bland and unappealing Accord, which already looks 10 years old.
Yeh look at that they both have 4 wheels, wow. Now try and show the 5 door 6, with front, rear and oblique views. The 6 is great looking the accord is a saturn LS dog.

Ford sales plunge 21 percent
U.S. automaker continues to lose ground to imports as sharp fall likely leaves it beyond Toyota once again.
October 2 2007: 12:11 PM EDT
NEW YORK — Ford Motor saw sales fall more than 20 percent in September, as the embattled U.S. automaker continues to lose market share.
The company saw its overall sales down 20.5 percent to 189,863 vehicles. Sales of light trucks, which includes pickups, SUV’s and the so-called crossover vehicles, fell 9 percent, while the sale of car models plunged 38.9 percent. The decline was widespread across its brand, with only Lincoln and Land Rover posting a sales gain.
The drop was even worse than the 17.7 percent decline forecast by sales tracker Edmunds.com.
Ford has been steadily losing market share and in August it fell behind Japanese rival Toyota Motor in year-to-date U.S. sales for the first time. Toyota is also expected to post a decline in U.S. sales in September, but it is expected to post only a narrow decline that may keep it in the No. 2 spot.
U.S. rivals General Motors and Chrysler LLC are also expected to post declines, according to sales tracker Edmunds.com, although GM is forecast to see its daily sales rate pick up slightly due to one fewer sales day in the most recent period. Honda Motor is forecast to post the best sales gain among major automakers.
Looking at both cars, it’s obvious the audience they are geared toward: ACCORD – typical conservative drivers who like nothing more than a quality appliance; while the MAZDA 6 – is geared toward someone who wants a more sporty flair in their daily transportation. Either way, the MAZDA 6 wins hands down for appearance. When the comparisons are made, the Mazda 6 will win over all critics.
These are bread n butter family cars, don’t expect anything magical Vince.
Family sedans are usually not “exciting.” But I think the Accord is a huge improvement over the previous version. And the 6 looks even better!
The Mazda is quite stylish. The Accord is okay, but just a little bit clumsy looking and unrefined. They’ll both sell tons.
What are you smoking? These two cars look NOTHING alike. The 6 looks GREAT…and 110 times better looking than that wanna B-MW trash Accord.
The c pillar on the Accord looks way better than the 6. The 6 hatch c pillar however looks better than the Accord. What makes the 6 better looking than the Accord, overall, is everything else, front, back and Most of the side view. Really the only thing from a practicality stand point that the 6 sedan has over the Accord is the All Wheel Drive option. Where as the Accord has a power, fuel efficiency and size advantage. If you put the 6 hatch or wagon into the mix then, in addition to WAAAAAYYY superior looks, you also get WAAAAYYY more useable interior space.
Mazda…PLEASE bring at least, in addition to the sedan, the hatchback to the USA. I’m sorry, but as far as I’m concerned, the regular sedan won’t warrant the possible $3000 to $4000 over the price of a comparably equipped Milan.

I’ll wait for the updated Sonata… larger I-4 and V6’s, boht better MPG, too, nicer interior, 5 speed auto-manual shifters, in all models.
There are as many Hyundai dealerships these days as Honda in my area, and only 1 Mazda in a 90 minute drive.
GM? whatever.
I did notice…what’s all of this tail light/rear end copying of SEBRING?
If i had 2 pick one, the 6 looks better, and is a Mondeo, isn’t it?
Honda= highest priced Japanese brand anymore.

Agreed 100%.
Sedans are nearly useless vs hatches.
We need more hatches(and not SUV, or “Station wagon” things)…more like the Mondeo from overseas-5 doors.
This will only be settled in the showrooms, not by people who haven’t even seen these cars in person. You can have whatever opinion based on usumtpions but its the sales that will show who does or does’nt know what they’re talking about.
The true test will be 5 years down the road when it is time to trade in or sell. I put money that the Accord will have far better re-sale value.
To 8:46,
Rock on brother.
To 10:32,
Unfortunately you are correct. It does’nt matter if 10, 100, or even 1000 people are angry about the decision made to bring or not bring a particular model here to the USA. It’s all about how much money has been made and how much will be made. Unfortunately for me I don’t have much of an argument against that. It’s business. However, as a consumer I can say that if Mazda does’nt bring the 6 hatch to the USA, I won’t be buying any Mazda. Not because I’m mad, but because they won’t have what I want for the price I’m willing to pay. If I’m going to buy a sedan, I’ll buy a Milan with similar features and save $3000-$4000. I’ll get the 3.5l v6, the 6 speed auto, all wheel drive, the nav system, leather, moon roof etc. Or I’ll save gas and go for the Malibu w/4cyl&6 speed auto or the Altima 4 cyl& cvt. Either way now I’m getting ( I think) a bigger car than the Mazda 6 sedan. But, like I said, I’m just one of how many people who are going to buy a car in the future. Money talks and B.S. walks. And nowadays the money is in huge SUV’s that nobody knows how to drive and cheap boring sedans and sports cars. But maybe…just maybe, somebody in Mazda USA will take pitty on me and make sure they’ll sell the Mazda 6 hatch with the 3.5l v6, 6 speed manumatic and all wheel drive. Please Mazda please. I know I’m just one of 500,000,000,000,000,000,000,000 people, but please bring it here just for me!

BLACK MASTER LASER PLATINUM…I don’t believe in this bull crap about buy a car because it have better re-sale value, every car with better re-sale value usually is more expensive, so you save money if you try to sale you car but you pay more money at the time of buying. THINK Mc FLY…THINK. this time honda lose. and perfect 10 to mazda 6.
