We are just dumb, ugly and fat Americans who are stupid according to Ford and think there is only one type of Focus out there.
It is really kinda funny, I just saw a pic of the “new” US focus and thought, go directly to rental lots, don’t pass go………..
It is a better car no matter how you look at it.

I’m not sure if I like the new front end better than the previous one. But one thing is for sure, it’s a much better car than the trashy Focus we have stateside.
It’s all about cost people. GM may be bringing the Astra here but it’s losing money on importing it from an Opel factory in Belgium in the process. When it refits a few plants in NA, then the Astra will be built here.
Ford doesn’t have that kind of money to burn right now so they’ll make the changeover when the next Focus is built – 3-4 years from now maybe.

I don’t think anyone is saying that we need to bring over an imported Focus. Just bring us the the EU design. As Ford did with the first generation Focus. It makes no sense to apply R&D dollars toward building the suckey Focus we see here when there is a fantastic version developed already. Besides, Ford is offering us this car stateside as a Mazda 3. So it can be done. This car is a waste of time. Only shampoo girls, Ford Employees and rental lots are going to buy it.
