Chevrolet Sequel

Last Updated:

Based on last year’s GMC concept, the sequel is actually a drivable hydrogen car.

They claim a 300 miles range and 0 to 60 in 10 seconds.
That’s pretty amazing when you think of it.
But no word yet on when we can actually drive one, or when the Hydrogen infrastructure might even be ready.

I remember way back when, GM also telling us they would produce an electric car. Years and years before the EV1.

Let’s hope this doesn’t turn into another case of “we built it but nobody wanted one it so we’re back making 12mpg trucks”…

By the way, this is a nice design.
It is what the Equinox should be looking now. Not in 3 or 4 years…

  1. I count 7 holes on the front end and a dashbaord from 1982 ( yikes )

The move to badge the fuel-cell vehicle a Chevy is an effort to bring hydrogen power to the masses via its Everyman brand. If GM had decided to place the crossover in one of its luxury divisions, it would give an air of exclusivity that the automaker feels may be detrimental to the future of mass-market fuel-cell vehicles. smart move on GMs part !

  2. Why wait for infrastructure. Part of the American industry problem is not building cars of this calibre now, not later.

  3. Nice SUV. But let’s blame the people who buy gas-hogs as much as we blame the manufacturers. These people contribute to pollution, global warming, traffic fatalities, higher insurance costs, and fostering a sense of automotive greed.

GM isn’t a saint, but neither are its SUV buyers.

  4. I used to say that Hydrogen is an impractical fuel for our cars. It is the smallest of molecules, so it will always leak from fuel tanks. It has to be stored under high pressures to maintain it as a liquid. And finally, the most effective production processes for making hydrogen are go make it from oil, not electrolosys.

However technology has been advancing at such a massive rate that I’m thinking Hydrogen may just be the real deal in 10 to 20 years. New advancements in fuel storage combine hydrogen with a microscopic reusable container. Then there have also been some advancements in hydrogen production, but that is still a ways off. So maybe we’ll be driving something like this in the future….

In the meantime, I would like to see Chevy follow this styling in their CUVs. Aside from the technology, this is actually a nice looking car.

  5. Really cool design. Too bad it is a Chevrolet (S#it quality)
Vince, can they sell that design to Honda and make it the next CRV?
I know just crop coming outta my mouth but, Chevrolet, GM and Ford suck!!!!!!!!!!!!
The way no other companies ever suck before!!!!

Stop winning about the global worming, go to fricking China, Russia and those third World countries, spread the word, spend about ten years there then, comeback here and bitch about it.
    Damm tree huggers!!!!

You must be an SUV owner, hence your whining. Why do you people hate America so much?

Looks like GM has been hugging some trees, because this Chevy Sequel looks very promising. I really like the styling. Someone else mentioned that it’s what the Equinox should look like. Not a bad idea.

  8. Isn’t there enough Chevrolets? Personally, I think this should be GMC since the sales of that brand is starting to slow and almost every vehicle in GMC is re-badged!

  9. Well, it is a concept…so who knows if we will see this.
One issue with GM, they show great designs, then give us something other….than great.
That Antara 3 door SUV concept, Opel, that was at the autoshow(s) this past winter…. then in June, we see this Sante Fe 5 door copycat, (excpet really uglified as only GM seems to be able to do)and are told we will get this as a Satrun, and not the “look out Scion” design!
    Why do they do this?
Ford’s Fusion looks good, at least, and they showed a concpet similar. GM just shows you a concept, then if they ever create something from it, it looks 180(usually ugly) of the ocncpet.

Maybe they will wake up and design nice looking stuff like this, even if not hydrogen vehicles.

  10. Subaru B9 and GM Sequel.

Anyone else here see a resemblance? Keep in mind that the two companies were cousins up till early this year…..

  11. That dashboard design is really bad. Bland and cheap (and not in a Bauhaus simplistic kind of way). If only GM would pay for good designers.
