2021 Opel Mokka
Last Updated:
We are today finally getting the first official pictures of the all-new 2021 Opel Mokka Crossover.
The previous Mokka (Called Mokka X) was basically the same car as our Buick Encore.
So you can see here, there is a major design evolution with this new generation.
Of course, the new model loses the old GM platform for a much more modern one from the Peugeot group. That platform is already used by PSA for the new DS 3 Crossback, and will have Peugeot and Citroen equivalents.
As rumored, the new Mokka looks a lot like the GT X concept from 2018.
It is basically a production version of that cool concept.
It seems PSA has been able to create a specific visual personality for Opel.
Which is quite a job, since they already have Peugeot, Citroen, and DS.
The design is much simpler and not as busy as of recent Peugeot designs. And the heavy-handed and overly detailed DS look.
The interior is very modern, but not quite as distinctive. It seems to me like a blend of new VW designs (Golf 8 and I.D3) and recent Hyundai/Kia interiors…
Since it uses an EV friendly PSA platform, the new Mokka obviously offers an electric version, pictured above.
Of course, this isn’t coming over here. Unless PSA is seriously thinking of selling Opel cars in the US (Through FCA dealers?)
I mean, it could happen…
These are such exciting times, and we see Ariya in a few weeks
The Peugeot equivalent already exists and has been on sale for a while: the Peugeot 2008
Wow, i'm surprised how close this is to the concept. This is a genuinely fresh design, one of the most inspired efforts i've seen in years. If this thing flops, i will lose my hope in humanity.
