2025 Tesla Model Y.

Last Updated:

We all know the Tesla Model Y is due for a refresh. These are the latest photos from China showing the facelifted EV coming up early next year.

Of course, it is not an all-new car, and we can guess new lights, front and rear, will be on the menu. The interior is rumored to match the revised Model 3 that came out a few months ago. However, there seems to be a strange bulge behind the front wheel, right by the front door. The arch seems to be sticking out more than on the current model. Or maybe it’s just the grainy photo and camouflage, who knows?

There is also a rumor about a larger 95 kWh battery being available on the revised Model Y. Something that would give the EV a longer range of 800 km/497 miles in China. Currently, the longest-range Model Y available in the US is rated at 337 miles. EPA numbers for the new battery will be lower than in China but could still reach around 400 miles.

Tesla is not only losing ground in sales, others are catching up with tech as well. Many of its competitors offer faster charging speeds and longer battery ranges these days. And the excellent Tesla charging network will soon be available to all. (If Elon gets it together enough to re-hire enough people in charge of the network).

After just 4 years, no one expects an all-new Tesla Model Y. But it does need to look a bit new and be quite improved to lure current owners and others who haven’t bought one yet.

As for other new Tesla models, crazy Elon just seems too busy with political shenanigans and robots to actually concentrate on the Tesla brand. He recently mentioned the rumored smaller $25,000 Tesla Model by saying “Having a regular, $25K model is pointless. It’d be silly.”

This is the opposite of what he was saying last year when Reuters came out with the news of the smaller Tesla being canceled. He even called Reuters journalists “liars”. Musk somehow keeps mentioning new cheaper Tesla models coming up in just a few months. Even though we haven’t seen any prototypes of anything new. Unless the 2025 Model Y gets a huge price cut. Which would make no sense since it’s not that much more expensive than the current smaller Model 3.

Working at Tesla must be very frustrating these days…
