Lincoln Wagon.
Last Updated:
To my knowledge, there has never been an official station wagon from Lincoln. That doesn’t mean there shouldn’t be one…
As we all know, Lincoln doesn’t sell cars in the US anymore, only look-alike SUVs. However, they have been seeing a Lincoln Zephyr sedan in China since 2022. (Also known as the “Lincoln Z’ for some reason).
The Chinese Zephyr is a nice-looking sedan, based on the same platform as the current Lincoln Corsair, but nothing special. It is of course powered by a 2.0 Liter Turbo. Like about 90% of ICE models these days, or so it seems.
The Chinese market seems quite favorable to the Station Wagon body styles these days. With EV models from Nio and others. A new Zeekr wagon is also planned. Even GM showed a Buick EV wagon concept a while ago.
it wouldn’t seem too much of a stretch to imagine a future Lincoln Wagon, at least for the Chinese market. maybe not based on the current Zephyr, but maybe on an upcoming EV model. Since that market is quickly transitioning to electric. Whenever Ford gets Lincoln an EV to us.
So far, Ford’s plans for larger EVs have been pushed back at least a year. And that includes the Lincoln EV SUV. At least it would give the luxury brand something to use in China and try to compete in that market. Since they literally have no EV to offer in the world’s largest EV market.
The whole brand sold under 82,000 cars in the US last year. And only about 71,000 in China. Dropping from 76,000 in 2022 and over 84,000 in 2021. Things are not looking good.
A new EV platform would really help Lincoln. And they needed it yesterday. They seem so far behind Cadillac right now it’s actually quite amazing…
This is interesting. Yes, because its a wagon, not an SUV. But also that its not squashed with a low roofline. But here’s what I also see… very similar frontal form to the new Accord, but Lincoln hasn’t thrown out embellishment and detail. It looks nice compared to the too bare and dull Honda. Not that I think Honda is going to do well starting next year. Our policy will turn on the Japanese makers unfortunately.
I believe the Lincoln MKT was a station wagon
Similar to Ford Flex but rounded shape.
Exactly ! My wife’s previous car was a Ford Flex. Her present one is an MKT and it’s the same vehicle, with Lincoln luxury and style.
