2027 Cadillac Lyriq and more.

Last Updated:

The first 2 images are supposed to show the all-new second-generation Cadillac Lyriq for 2027. The 3rd one is a previously posted illustration of what the next Lyriq could look like.

These photos are part of a video from the Wall Street Journal from last month showing GM’s new design center. You can see many designers working on what looks like a new Lyriq, but on closer observation, it also looks like it could be a pretty serious mid-cycle refresh and not an all-new design. Especially since the profile of the car looks so similar to the current one.

The current Lyriq was the first model of the Cadillac rebirth into the new EV world. The Lyriq started production in 2022 but was planned for 2021, after introducing a concept in 2020. That concept was basically the exact same car. We even saw a bit of the Lyriq in 2019, in the form of 2 illustrations previewing Cadillac’s then-future EV.

Which means we’ve basically seen the Lyriq design for about 5 years already. With production originally planned in 2021, it would seem a 2nd generation could have been planned for around 2026 or 2027. That new Lyriq might not be that far off after all.

The photos above show a cleaner design than the current model. Which would be an improvement. Every time I see one in person I really want to like it, but the design is actually quite busy. Same thing inside. If these photos are real, it seems the next generation could show the way to a cleaner, more mature new Cadillac design language.

More images from the design center reveal what looks like the Cadillac Solei Concept, with its convertible top up. Which I haven’t seen before. Could it mean the Solei convertible is actually heading for production?

it would probably be in limited numbers since the 4-door Celestiq is already a small run of cars and priced at over $340,000.

It looks like Cadillac might have more Rolls Royce dreams in its future. Which I personally think is a big mistake…

(thanks to a reader for the pix)
