Ford is hard at work on a brand-new low cost EV platform. The California team has now grown to over 500 people, including former Tesla, Lucid and Apple employes.
We now know the new Ford EV platform could end up being used for up to 8 new vehicles. With all sorts of body styles. Including a brand-new EV sedan. Something Ford desperately needs if they want to even have a chance in the ultra competitite Chinese market.
The illustration above shows what a new EV sedan based on the highly modular new platform could look like.
Ford seems to be focusing on the Mustang and Bronco lineup these days. That would mean a possible new sedan would incorporate some Mustang DNA.
The first model coming out will be a compact pickup truck. Which is rumored to look like an EV version of the Ranger. A compact SUV will be next. These two make sense since they are quite popular segments for Ford.
However, up to 8 new models on that one plaform opens up a world of possibilities. If it is modular enough, we could even imagine a 3 row SUV and maybe a larger luxury sedan for Lincoln.
