Mazda MX-5 Limited

Last Updated:

Not even out yet, and the new MX-5 gets a Limited “comemorative” model.
It is said to celebrate the coming out of the new generation.
They usually come up with these at the end of a run, not the beginning.
But I really like the metal finish around the windshield. It fits the design of the new car.
That should be something available on the regular model.

The Miata name is no more.
From now on, it is the MX-5 all over the world…

  1. Why would Mazda discard a great name like”Miata” in favor of the generic “MX-5”? Remember the Acura Legend?

  2. I know what you mean.
But it was always called the MX5 around the world.
Miata had a good reputation in the US. It is so hard to have a “good name” you would think they’d keep it. Others are replacing the names they’ve destroyed with crappy cars (Cavalier/Cobalt, Neon/Caliber etc..)

Maybe they do save that much on badges…

  3. I red just a couple of weeks ago an interview from some “Mazda Big Shot” who did claim they were dropping the Miata name in the US.
Maybe they are still refering to it as the “MX5 Miata”, but only but MX5 badges on the car???
They also claimed that this would same them a lot of extra cash. ..
I guess we’ll see when the car’s out.
    Thanks for the comment
