Cruising Instagram…

Always a gold mine for old, forgotten stuff.
And things we remember fondly…
– A fantastic looking concept car I had never heard of: The 1970 Holden Torana GTR-X.
– A really cool 1967 AMC concept called the Amitron. (renamed the AMC Electron in 1977)

An early EV concept with a claimed electric range of up to 150 miles (in 1967!!)

–  A weird, longer version prototype of the original Fiat 500.

–  An early proposal for the 2nd generation BMW 3 series by Giugiaro.

– A forgotten Nissan Concept: the 1987 Nissan Judo. With its really cool sliding roof panel.

– Another car I have never heard of: The 1953 French Ford Comete. (looking a lot like the Peugeot 403 Cabriolet)

–  A fantastic 1978 Cadillac Eldorado with retractable T-Tops! For sale for $16 500.

– The always cool 1966 Hondas.

– And of course, a super nice brown Corvette from the ’70s. Which is always a wonderful site.
(I took this picture just yesterday…)

  1. I've never seen that Nissan Judo concept before, but Ford copied that sliding roof design for the concept design for the Ford Freestyle concept car in 2003.

  2. The 1970 Holden Torana GTR-X was a fiberglass body on a Holden Torana chassis.
The cooking versions were to have a 6 cylinder 202 Cubic Inch engine with triple carbs as per the already fast metal bodied Torana XU-1.
The car was so close to production the owner's manuals and sales literature were printed but Holden pulled the pin at the last moment.

  3. Clearly Giugiaro later sold that BMW design to Maserati and it became the Biturbo, right down to the door handles! Only the headlights and grille changed!

  4. Love that 1987 Nissan Judo sliding roof… I think that Fiat 500 must have inspired the Tesla Model X…. 😉
