2023/24 Chevrolet Equinox: which one?

Last Updated:

Things will be getting confusing soon with the Chevrolet Equinox.
On one hand, it is supposed to be redesigned. We have seen spy shots of it a few months ago. Which will be the 2023 or 2024 model.
On the other hand, an all-new electric model called the Equinox EV is also coming out in the fall of 2023. And will start at an amazingly low $30 000 before incentives. Which will in fact make it cheaper than the regular Equinox.
It is a bit hard to tell if the spy shot above is the EV or not. It could be.
Or not…

  1. How do you know that the spy shots of the Equinox from earlier aren't also of the EV? There's no exhaust seen in those pictures. For all we know, they could all be of the EV and that's all the next gen will be.

  2. Yes, that's the Chevy Equinox EV in the photo.

The ICE version will get an update before it is dropped for the EV.

My feeling is the $30,000 version will end up with not much to it: smaller electric unit, smaller screen, smaller tires, and FWD.

Most likely the one people will want will be $10-12K more (larger electric unit, larger wheels, larger screen, and AWD).

  3. Rear bumper lighting elements don't match, and neither does the upper rear door quarter window shape. Looks more like a heavy refresh of the current non-EV Equinox.

  4. That's a good point, but non Si/R Honda Civics since 2016 have also been void of visible exhaust outlets, instead they point down, hidden by the rear bumper and fascia. The spy photo could be the result of actually concealing the exhaust outlets, in order to project a more green appearance. Or it very well could be the EV version.
