2026 Toyota Corolla.

There is a new generation Toyota Corolla coming in 2026.
This next-generation Toyota Corolla is already rumored to come standard with a new Hybrid powertrain that would include Toyota’s all-new more efficient 1.5 Liter engine. A PHEV trim will join the options list in a few markets.
The goal for the new PHEV would be a total range of around 1300 miles, which sounds quite amazing and almost crazy. Since it would double the range of the recurrent Corolla Hybrid model. The next generation would not only have to be much more efficient but also probably use a larger gas tank.
The next Corolla will keep being offered as a sedan, hatchback, or wagon. As usual, the wagon will probably not make it to the North American market.
It seems Toyota is working on new Hybrids that could revolutionize the market in a couple of years. Just when they will be also coming out with more new EV models with more efficient batteries as well.
I really don’t understand the mentality that Americans have entrenched themselves in, where they automatically say I HATE WAGONS – when a large number of SUVs are essentially just raised wagons. I get that someone hated the woody-wagon they grew up with in the 70’s, but get over it. Nothing wagon-like these days even remotely resembles that. Its just moron group think. Even the 2000’s “sport wagons” didn’t resemble it – they just were way to space limited in most cases. I would love a compact hybrid wagon. Car makers need to make them an appealing option to an SUV: roomy enough, tall enough, featured enough – but with the benefits of a car’s ride quality and mileage potential. Subaru has built an entire line from that process. Do THAT Toyota.
Re: Comments from ‘CX’ – I couldn’t agree with you more. I would buy a compact hybrid wagon from Toyota or Honda in a second. Sad that this is probably not going to be possible in the U.S.
Is there any reason whatsoever to expect anything other than the current gen Corolla with Prius-like front and rear ends grafted on? Same as the Camry. Sure, new powertrain, but design wise this is likely just a refresh on the same underlying platform.
Vince if not mistaken all new Toyotas will be sold as hybrid only, at least in the E.U.
Hatchback and wagon lover here. Still have a prius V and have had many convos with people saying what kind of car is that and thats a cool looking prius. I cant understand the hate with wagons in this country. Its a jack of all trades car. I still get the mpg and can put a full size moutain bike in the back with no problem. Toyota give us a replacement for the prius v in the corolla wagon!
