Jaguar EV sedan.

Last Updated:

Next week Jaguar will not only unveil a new concept previewing a new sedan, but also a new brand.

The whole Jaguar brand is getting a complete (crazy?) makeover. Including its logos.

The top image is the first time we actually get to see a bit of that new sedan. It actually is a bit different from the teaser we saw a year and a half ago (2nd image). While the 1st photo is obviously the concept, that older teaser might have been the production model. Maybe? Unless one shows the front end and the other one of the rear end? Who knows…

Either way, it is shaping up to be something weird. Something that might be weird in a bad way like the Tesla Cybertruck. Jaguar is moving upmarket with the new sports sedan and the EV will start at around $120,000. Which is more than many previous sedans from the brand. But the new model will be their cheapest car. It will basically now slot under Bentley. Which is actually not a bad place to be for a brand like Jaguar.

From the new teaser, it is quite obvious the new car will not have a rear window. Just like the new Polestar 4. From what we can see of the car, there are no cuts from the body to the bumpers. Which could mean a production version that will look quite different from this. There is also what looks like a very high rear hatch opening, instead of the window. Something that also doesn’t look at all production really.

This actually reminds me of last year’s Honda 0 Series sedan concept. Something that really didn’t look production-ready at all, but somehow, will become, or inspire a new production model scheduled for next year.

I think what we’ll see next week for Jaguar is more intended to shock the audience than a true preview of a production car. In the end, that car might actually look much better than the concept.

Let’s hope this is a true new beginning for Jaguar. They do need it…

  1. I actually don’t mind the new branding, font or logo. Jag has been virtually invisible for years so any change at this point can’t hurt.
