2026 Nissan Leaf.

These illustrations show what the next-generation Nissan Leaf could look like. They are so far pretty close to the latest spy shots we have seen of the new EV.
As we already know, the new Leaf design will be heavily inspired by the Nissan Chill Out Concept. Which will give the small EV a desperately needed modern look.
From what we’ve seen so far, the new Nissan EV could end up looking more like a smaller Ariya than the Chill Out concept. I think the Ariya looks great. But the new Murano also looks a lot like the Ariya. We don’t need that same design in a smaller shape.
This would be what Nissan has down with the current Maxima, Altima, and Sentra. These 3 have basically very similar designs in different sizes.
I do understand concept designs need to be toned down for production, but let’s hope for something more original than a smaller Ariya.
The first generation Leaf came out in 2010. It took 8 years for Nissan to redesign it. And still, it wasn’t an all-new car and used many parts from the 1st generation. A fully new generation is seriously needed.
The current Leaf starts at around $28,000. Even with the probably huge improvements the new one will offer, its base price should really stay at around $30,000. Which is where the upcoming Kia EV3 will be. And probably the next-generation Chevrolet Bolt. The new Volvo EX30 isn’t that much more either.
These will be just 3 of the new affordable EVs coming within a year or two.
The next-generation Leaf is scheduled to go on sale next year in Europe with a North American launch rumored for 2026.
The new Leaf will use the same platform as the Ariya and the nre Renault Megane e-Tech. And will also, of course, have an improved EV range of at least over 260 miles. This will all bring the Leaf into the modern world, finally.
Very recently, there has been talk about Nissan being in dire financial trouble and could only have enough cash to be aroind another year or so. Which is very troubling especially when they will need money to launch the new Murano and especially th enext Leaf in Europe and the US.

I am hoping the new Leaf will include functional elements such as a heat exchanger for the battery and a multi-link rear suspension, shared with the Ariya and Kicks.
