2026 Toyota RAV4.

Last Updated:

It seems there are more and more leaks about the next-generation Toyota RAV4 every week these days.

I remember this happening with the 2024 Prius. And that was just a few weeks before its official unveiling. Which means we could see the new RAV4 any day now.

Again, this new spy shot seems to show a design that is actually very different from the current generation. It seems that unlike what many have previously thought, the 2026 RAV4 will look all-new. However, it is still completely covered up and really, who knows…

Most Toyota models use a version of the TNGA platform, this will probably still be the case for the new RAV4. It has also been rumored to get a standard Hybrid powertrain. And will retain its PHEV option.

However, no one is expecting big changes or huge improvements to these powertrains. Since Toyota’s new 1.5 Liter and 2.0 Liter engines are probably not ready for prime time yet.

A new generation RAV4 is a huge deal around the world. In the US alone, Toyota sold 435,000 of them last year. It was also the world’s best-selling car in 2022 with over a million units. It’s fair to say that a new one will be eagerly awaited by many around the world.

From what we can see of the front end (cover pic and previous spy shots) it seems things could be quite similar to the Crown Signia, which is a very good-looking car. Maybe the new RAV4 will push its envelope a bit and make an effort to be really attractive and not just “a good car”.

While I think the current generation still looks OK, its interior seems behind the times next to the competition like the Hyundai Tucson.

I think we could see more any day now…

  1. Its interior seems behind the times, but that’s pretty much most of Toyota interiors. I mean, have you seen the interiors for the “new” 4Runner? It looks like its from the 80’s… the bad 80’s.

There is one thing I’ve been thinking about though. Its the Subaru facility in Indiana that used to make the Legacy and also produces Camry’s for Toyota. Now that the Legacy is gone, I’ve been thinking about whether Subaru is continuing to manufacture for Toyota and whether a common general platform will emerge between the two … say a RAV4 and a new Outback.
