Toyota Corolla Cross.
Last Updated:
There is a new Toyota Corolla on its way. As a sedan and hatchback, as well as a new wagon in some markets. And a redesigned Corolla Cross SUV might not be that far behind.
The current Corolla Cross came out in the US for the 2022 model year, however, it has been around since 2020 in other markets. It is based on the current generation Toyota Corolla, which was introduced in 2018.
Maybe, just maybe, Toyota will find it in its heart to give the Corolla Cross a bit more style the next time around. Maybe even something that looks a little bit more outdoorsy, like the illustration above. Something with a little bit more personality. Anything would help…
Toyota sold over 93,000 of them in the US last year. Up from 64,000 in 2023. That is pretty good even if you compare it to the Honda H-RV. Although the Honda is still the champ with over 138,000 sold last year. The HR-V only offers a 2.0 Liter engine with no Hybrid option (yet). A refreshed HR-V is due out in a few months for the 2026 model year.
The Toyota Corolla Cross is probably a fine car. It just needs to be a bit more desirable. Nothing a more modern and attractive design can’t fix.
And how about a standard Hybrid powertrain, like the 2025 Camry? And the rumored 2026 RAV4.
