2026 Cadillac Lyriq -V.
Last Updated:
Cadillac just introduced a super sporty version of the Lyriq EV. Called, the “Lyriq-V”, of course. And it’s a little bit sad, for a few reasons.
First I really don’t think the shape of the Cadillac Lyric lends itself well to a sportier trim with ghastly side skirts and add-ons. It now looks heavier than ever instead of sportier.
Second, the Lyriq isn’t the newest kid on the block anymore. While it started production in 2022, the concept was introduced a couple of years earlier. That exact design has now been around for about 5 years. And again, the various add-ons of the V-Series trim don’t help at all.
It is also labeled a 2026 model. We have seen spy shots of GM’s design studio with various clay models of a revised Cadillac Lyriq. I guess that means we will have to wait until the 2027 model year to see something that looks a bit cleaner and new.
The official photo of the charging port also shows the old CCS plug and not the NACS GM recently adopted. That means the 2026 models of the Ultium platform models will probably still not be able to use NACS chargers natively. Which is really a shame. Especially since other manufacturers like Kia and Hyundai already offer this.
I really want to like the Lyriq. But every time I see one it seems a bit busy and overdone. Same thing inside.
As for the new V-Series, it adds a crazy 615HP EV powertrain making it the quickest Cadillac model ever with a 0 to 60 time of 3.3 seconds. If that’s really important to you. In a Cadillac…
Cadillac also mentioned a “unique exterior and interior signature sound”. That sounds a lot like these fake engine sounds that are popping around in cars like the Ioniq 5N or the new Dodge Charger.
If you love all this, it will cost you $80,000.
