Ford Mustang Mach4
Last Updated:

A 4-door Mustang, called the Mach-4, was actually shown at a recent dealer meeting. At least in the form of illustrations. Now it appears that Ford has actually trademarked the name “Mach-4” last month.
Before anyone gets excited about a new 4-door Mustang, let’s remember the current model is a flop. It only sold around 44,000 units last year. When a new model in its first year is usually much more successful than the old one, it actually sells fewer units than the old version. And fewer than the Mustang Mach-e EV.
A 4-door version of that car would also inherit the terrible interior of the current coupe and convertible. With its ghastly rectangular screens that are actually blasphemous in a Mustang. And most of the rest of that interior is carried over from the previous generation. Even the Mach-E interior looks more like a Mustang interior.
Again, this is not a popular car. A new 4 door version might only add a few more sales a year. Probably not much. On the other hand, the upcoming 4 door version of the 2025 Dodge Charger looks amazing. And it will be available in both EV and ICE powertrains. That car has much more of a chance than a 4 door version of the current disappointing Mustang. Unless Ford actually spends some real money on the project and comes up with an all-new design. (The illustration above shows what a new design for a 4-door Mustang could look like)

ass you can see from these 1960s prototypes, this is not the first time Ford is thinking of expanding the Mustang lineup. Something that had not been done until a few years ago with the Mustang Mach-E EV. Which has again, become more popular than the “regular” Mustang. Proving that hard-core Mustang fans aren’t really buying these “real Mustangs” they love so much.
With a new trademarked and a car actually shown to dealers, it looks like we will finally see a “real” 4-door Mustang sooner rather than later…
