If the new Cadillac IQ is too small or too cheap for you, you can now spend more money on this even larger version. Called the IQL.
And yes, at $132,695, it is about $5000 more than the e”regular” Cadillac IQ. Which is actually not such a huge premium for more room. I even think this could become the most popular version of the IQ.
3rd-row legroom grows by 4 inches. And bedroom by one inch. The rear cargo area is also larger, and the overall truck is just 4 inches longer. The IQL delivered a very impressive 460 miles of range from its huge 205kWh battery pack.
Unlike the ICE Cadillac Escalade ESV, the IQL looks quite different from the shorter IQ. Everything in the rear door has been totally redesigned with a much more formal roofline. It now makes the IQ look like a sportier almost “SUV Coupe” version of the huge EV. The IQL looks much more like a regular Escalade than the IQ.
While $132,000 is a huge amount of money, the new Cadillac’s main competition will probably be the upcoming Range Rover EV. Which will surely end up being much more expensive.
As well as the new Genesis GV90. While the Genesis could be a bit cheaper and much more modern looking, it just cannot match the image of the Escalade. It seems the market for that kind of huge SUV requires lots of chrome and a cheezy “almost vulgar” design.
This is where the Escalade will win.
