Cadillac Fleetwood.
Last Updated:
The big old Cadillac Fleetwood is long gone. And yet, why not imagine a new one?
It would be the largest Cadillac sedan available besides the Celestiq, but for less. It would probably have to be priced at under $100, 000 to be competitive against the Mercedes EQS or the ghastly BMW i7. And not trying to be a Rolls or Bentley like the Celestiq.
The Fleetwood was one of the most luxurious cars the Cadillac ever made over the last decades. The “Fleetwood” name was usually added to a more mainstream sedan like the DeVille.
In 1993, the Fleetwood became a specific model, based on the Cadillac Brougham platform. Which dated from the late 1970s Deville. The 1993 Fleetwood was quite a modern design when it came out. It almost looked like a weird production version of a Syd Mead design from some angles. And the master illustrator himself drove one for years.
The Fleetwood courageously held on until 1996, with sales shrinking every year. By that time, a giant RWD sedan from Cadillac wasn’t what people wanted anymore. The CT6 and XTS were on their way. And especially, the truck-based Escalade. Which somehow ended up ruling the whole Cadillac brand and became their best seller, year after year…
However, we keep hearing Cadillac is working on two all-new sedan models based on the Ultium platform. So why not dream of a longer, more luxurious version of the largest one?
At at time when Mercedes, BMW, Audi are all becoming these garish buttonless electro-light shows inside, Cadillac could absolutely swoop in with modern takes on throwback designs (inside and out). I’d love to see a Fleetwood return. I didn’t care for the Celestiq, and i’m tired of the -iq names anyways.
I love it ! Fleetwood have their own badges , longer, and had trim , colors , interior materials not avaliable on other Cadillacs.
Even a quilted leather head liner , in 50 s.
The foreign brands still make passenger cars, thankfully.
I despise Crossovers .Pedestrian, boring, mini vans of are time , that do nothing well .
No class , sorry.
I like this , but would like to see a more dramatic sweep of the rear fenders , in a fin effect , or lights running across them.
Will it have a prominent grille, whitewall tyres, fender skirts, velour or Alacantra seating area, and tailfins? That’s what Cadillac people desire….Then you can add the Corvette engine!!
Please stop with the teasing of the new Cadillac Deville! Cadillac made a terrible mistake stoping the production of the big size Deville and the Fleetwheel model. I do not like what Cadillac is doing.
I will hold on to and cherish my DTS till I leave this earth. It’s the last Cadillac that was a “Cadillac” although not my favorite interpretation of Cadillac luxury. Each model year I loathe more and more these SUV/Crossover lookalike shoeboxes. Sunday drives used to be highly enjoyable when cars were cars (and had names)! Autos today = visual pollution.
If that Fleetwood hit the black top, it would be killing the comp inna hurtful way! That there ISSA speechless pic up there! DAMN Lac! Game over! JUS SAYIN! 💪HARD! DAMN! A NASTY FIGHT! 😳
I have to say- this almost could be a re-design of the Chrysler 300.
I’m down so Let’s do this! I just have one request and that is to return the outside wreath to the badge. At least as an option!
SUVs have become a parade of exactly the same, for the mindless. But in order for sedans to do well, brands needs to stop making them the super aero offering by squishing them down until you have to drop into their seats and recline to have enough headroom. Yet they have no problem making an F150 hood taller than me. Make sedans taller.
I still have a 96 Fleetwood Brougham in which I only have a mere 145k miles. The amount of attention I get is amazing. Cadillac needs chrome, whitewalls, space ( no oversized permanent consoles, and doesn’t need to themed as racing or loud. Elegance with depth in styling, yet affordable while they get all the bugs out. Remember they once lost to Lexus, BMW, Benz customers. To keep demand with supply, they need a design model with a smoothing price to win back desires. Older folks will not buy this in high volumes, as they use to riding in trucks, and shorty Cadillacs.
What about the 1995

The CT6 was beautiful car that could of been improved to compete with the best coming out of Germany. I now drive a Mercedes EQS because the Cadillac Sedans are terrible. Every time I get into the EQS I think of the CT6 because these two cars are so similar inside and ride the same.
Is it going to be gasoline powered, I don’t want an electric car.
