Subaru Forester EV.

Last Updated:

Toyota is currently developing an all-new EV model they will share with Subaru. It will have a more formal SUV shape than the BZ4X and Solterra and will be sold in the US as well as Europe. Just like their previous collaboration, the only difference between the Subaru and Toyota versions will mostly be the front end.

Toyota officials have also mentioned that future EVs will be using “existing and familiar Toyota nameplates”. That will soon mean goodbye to idiotic names like BZ4X. However, it is interesting to note that the revised BZ4X just introduced is still using the “old” name.

The new naming system will start with the C-HR+. Using the C-HR name while both cars are actually unrelated. This will probably be the same thing for that mystery new EV that will probably be called RAV4 +. That would mean that maybe Subaru will be doing this same thing with their new SUV. The only name I can think of to use would be “Forester”. Unless the new model is truly much smaller than the Solterra. In that case “Crosstrek” could be appropriate.

The new EV is also rumored to have a shape that is very similar to the 2026 RAV4. It is expected from both Toyota and Subaru by the end of this year.

Currently, the Subaru Solterra starts at $38,500. Which is actually about $1000 cheaper than the cheapest AWD version of the Toyota BZ4X. A new model would have to be quite a bit cheaper to make sense. Which could compete against the new Forester Hybrid starting at $35,000. That wouldn’t make much sense.

The shadowy trailer above (from Toyota) doesn’t seem to show a very small SUV. It does seem larger than a Crosstrek. Or maybe, the new model will actually sit above the Solterra. Starting at a higher price.

Whatever happens, it’ll be cool to see another Subaru EV sold in the US. later, another larger 3-row EV SUV will also be shared with a new Toyota EV model.

  1. this green thing would be a whole lot better than the mess they’re making of the Forester and the coming Outback. Either way, I’ll consider a Subaru when they ditch Elon Musk’s STARLINK from all their vehicles.

  2. @CX…. you should do some research before you post. Subaru Starlink is completely unrelated to Elon Musk’s Starlink service. It’s unfortunate that they share a name, but that is all they share. Subaru’s do NOT connect to or communicate with Musk’s satellite service.

  3. And that is how lunacy begins, hate a vehicle that has nothing to do with a person. Sad. How about the vehicle? we were loyal costumers for over two decades, and about 15 Subarus all together (family), no more. The stupid tablet and the worst part is the costumer service, it went down to s#it after covid. Subaru hands out a $500 loyalty voucher if you currently own a Subaru. You can only use that voucher to buy a new vehicle. We have purchased 6 Subarus in three years. I was denied a voucher and I was told that I’ve purchased too many Subarus. My name is blocked out. YES they did.

Specially nowdays when not many people are buying vehicles, you’ll think their costumer service would improve, the apposite happened. Go to a Toyota stealership and you’ll find out their lots packed with Tundras and Tacomas. They are not selling. Specially their mexican tacoma (yes made in Mexico) cheap labor and they raised the price by a lot. No thanks, I’ll buy a Nissan Frontier instead with a V6. If they can increase the EV range but at least 500 miles and a faster charging time, maybe, but people outside of California realized that those EV’s are not that ready. Lastly, the new Subaru Forester was OK, too blend, old anemic engine. So many issues with a 2025 model I bought, so I just gladly traded for a different brand. Ciao Subaru.
