2026 Alfa-Romeo Stelvio.

Last Updated:

Alfa Romeo is getting ready to replace both the Stelvio SUV and the Giulia sedan. Today, we see, for the first time, patent images of the 2nd generation Stelvio SUV. As you can see, these new images match perfectly the official teaser Alfa Romeo released last year.

Both models will be based on the STLA large platform from Stellantis. This means they will be related to our new Dodge Charger and Jeep Wagoneer S. As well as the upcoming Jeep Recon.

That could also mean both Alfa models will grow in size a bit.

From the images above, it looks like they’ve added plenty of black plastic trim to the new Stelvio. I guess it now looks more like a larger version of the Alfa Romeo Junior sold in Europe. Which might not be the best thing… At least they kept the classic Alfa grille up front, even it it has been updated. But the profile looks more generic than before.

Alfa’s CEO has already confirmed earlier that the next generation will be available as a Hybrid or EV. The new SUV will be revealed later this year, while production will start in 2026. It seems Alfa Romeo will no be going all-electric by 2027 after all, since both the new Stelvio and Giulia will also be offered with Hybrid powertrains.

The current Stelvio is pretty far from being a hit in the US. While its best year was its first full year in 2018, with 12,000 sold in the US, that number went down to 5338 last year. And 2365 so far this year. It makes you wonder if a new one is even worth it. I remember that after the slow-selling Giulia sedan came out, they had high hopes for the SUV version in the US. Stelvio was seen as the savior of the brand.

Not only is a new one desperately needed, but it will take a fortune to actually let people in North America know that a new Alfa is coming. And that the brand is still around in the first place.
