2026 Toyota C-HR (US).
Last Updated:

Toyota just officially revealed the US version of the new European C-HR+ we saw just a few weeks ago. It is changing its name to just “C-HR” for the US since, you know, we don’t get the regular Toyota C-HR over here anymore. I’m not sure reviving the name of a model you canceled a few years ago because no one was buying it is the best idea, but here we are.
This new C-HR is based on the BZ4X (Now called BZ in the US). The front end is similar to the revised 2026 BZ, however, the rest of the design seems much cleaner and modern. The coupe-like shape helps a lot. It is also around 6 inches shorter and not as roomy as the 2026 BZ.
In Europe, the C-HR+ is available with one or two motors. That means FWD as well as AWD. For the US, Toyota has decided to only offer the dual motor AWD version. Which I think is an odd decision and a mistake. Since it will make the base price of the C-HR much higher than a single motor version would have been.
It seems Toyota isn’t chasing the lowest price but is trying to position the C-HR as a sportier alternative to the BZ and not necessarily a much cheaper one. Too bad.
That standard AWD model will produce 338HP. With a range of 290 miles. Which is, of course, less than the 314 miles of the 2026 FWD BZ. And about the same as the 288 miles rating for the AWD BZ. It seems a single motor C-HR could have gotten around 320 miles or so. Again, too bad.
Charging speed is the same as for the 2026 BZ, with an improved charging curve from the BZ4X. And a NACS port is also standard.
The new C-HR comes in SE or XSE trims. The XSE doesn’t seem to add much to the base model. Except larger 20-inch wheels, a power passenger seat, and a panoramic view mirror. It seems the panoramic roof and JBL sound system are still options.
While we will be getting the 2026 BZ later this year, the C-HR won’t be available until 2026. Again, this is a bit too bad. If they can still manage to price it below the BZ, I think Toyota could have quite a hit in the US with this new EV.
I don’t know what Tyler‘s been doing with their interior designers lately, but they need some new ones! Their interiors looks like something out of the 1980s that they just slapped of iPad on
That is a really cheap looking interior. Awful.
