While Nissan just canceled their future EV sedans, it seems Infiniti will get its own version of the next-generation Nissan Rogue.
Infiniti was supposed to get one of the two EV sedan models to replace the old Q50 sedan that was discontinued last year. The Nissan version would have taken the place of the Maxima.
Nissan has been hard at work on an all-new Rogue, which will finally bring Nissan’s new 3rd generation E-Power Hybrid powertrain to the US. The Infiniti version could use the same tech, and offer a PHEV trim as well.
The next Rogue is scheduled to start production in 2026. The e-Power trim is rumored to use a 1.5-liter engine as a generator. A 2026 start of production means the new Rogue would be sold as a 2027 model. The Infiniti version could come out a few months later. Or as a 2028 model.
Poor Infiniti has been starved of new models for years. At least they now have the new QX80. However, that will not move sales numbers into a much healthier territory since it is a very expensive SUV.
The older QX50 and 55 have been canceled due to tariffs. And basically, the only model that sells is the QX60. And that was just over 20,000 units last year.
A new e-Power smaller SUV is exactly what the brand needs. And could be well equipped to fight against the new Acura ADX, which doesn’t even offer a regular Hybrid trim.
